PrayerMap ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data when you use PrayerMap (the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you register, we collect your email address, a hashed password, your display name, and your selected timezone. We also store an optional profile photo that you upload.
Prayer Content
The Service stores the prayer subjects, prayer details, notes, and schedule information that you choose to enter. This content belongs to you and is used solely to provide the Service.
Usage Data
We record your last login timestamp and session activity (which prayer items are marked as prayed, answered, or paused) in order to deliver core functionality such as scheduling and reporting.
Cookies & Sessions
We use a single, strictly-necessary session cookie to keep you signed in. We also use Google Tag Manager, which loads Google Analytics, and these set their own cookies. We use them for ordinary business measurement... understanding which parts of the app are used and whether our marketing is reaching the right people.
Your prayer content is never sent to Google or to any analytics service. No prayer subjects, prayer items, answered prayer notes, accountability answers, or gratitude entries are transmitted to any measurement tool, and no names or email addresses are passed to them. Google Analytics receives only standard technical and page-level information: which pages were viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, and the site you arrived from.
We do not use analytics to profile you or your organization, we do not use it for advertising or retargeting, and we do not sell or share what it collects. We load no advertising cookies and no social media tracking pixels. You can opt out with your browser's cookie controls or Google's Analytics opt-out add-on, and PrayerMap will keep working normally.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide the Service — display your prayer list, generate your schedule, and produce reports.
- Account management — authenticate you, reset your password, and communicate service notices.
- Service improvement — aggregate, anonymized usage patterns may be used internally to improve the product. We do not sell individual data.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your prayer content is private to your account and is never shared with other users or organizations outside your tenant without your explicit action.
We rely on a small number of service providers to run PrayerMap. DigitalOcean hosts our server. An SMTP provider delivers transactional email such as password resets. Stripe processes payments if you buy a paid plan or give a support gift, on its own hosted checkout, so we never see or store your full card number. Google provides the analytics described above and the reCAPTCHA bot check on our public contact form. None of these receive your prayer content.
We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
4. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will permanently delete your account and associated prayer data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
5. Security
Passwords are stored as one-way bcrypt hashes and are never stored or transmitted in plain text. Access to the database is restricted to the application server. While we take reasonable precautions, no system is completely secure; please use a strong, unique password.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information (via your Profile page).
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
- Export your data (feature planned for a future release).

7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
